Public Affairs Ireland

Public Affairs Ireland (PAI) was established in 2002, and since then has been a leading figure in Training and Development of the public sector and national conferences.

They offer Bespoke Training, going out to individual organisations, assessing their needs, and creating a made-to-measure training plan. They offer a wealth of information through weekly updates, back-issues of their Journal, new Training and Development magazine, and their blog, which features article contributions by many of the country’s leading figures in their sector.

I was contacted by Joan Connolly of Public Affairs Ireland to quote on re-designing their events website. The brief included a basic document management system, members sign up and secure area and event booking.

So the site was quite complicated and to add to this it needed to be under SSL. However, having a WordPress site running under SSL can sometimes create problems for plugins no matter how well written they are. The majority of the design and development went well, and was partly done in tandem with the branding re-design. The site required a considerable amount of testing due to the eCommerce facility for signing up for membership and also event booking.

I used Stripe for payments as the integration was surprisingly easy compared with PayPal.
